Well I have had the RamAirSS system for several months
now. Previously I had the K&N Generation II (cold
air box) system. I must say the ramair system is FAR
superior. When I put the K&N on from stock I felt
a great improvement, but then much more from the K&N
to the ramair. Most significantly at high speeds! Going
80MPH and stomp it and the car pulls HARD. Plus people
can hear your car's intake now! Sounds like well.....sucking
from 20 feet away. :)
Some issues to address:
Rain/water: I live in Oregon. Need I say more? Handles
rain just fine.
Breaking due to being so low to ground: You have to
be aware its there, but amazingly I have hit it straight
into a curb that was too high while parking several
times. This was at the "slow till the tires hits"
kind of parking pull-in speed. I felt it take the curb
full force (hit kinda hard, scared me), and its fine.
WHOA I thought.

I have had a Ramit SS kit on my Impala since April,
and I would just like to compliment you guys on the
great kit that you have. Every time I pop the hood
of my car I get so many questions on that intake.
I love it. It is without a doubt the best kit available.
It was very easy to install and it is definitely worth
its incredibly low price. Oh yeah, I am in the process
of making a webpage, would it be ok i I put a link
to your site on it when I am finished with it. I would
like everyone to know about your superior product
and excellent service.

Subject: SRI vs. Ram-it: No comparison
List,
At our local LiSSt meeting Sunday, I saw the SRI system.
It is mounted directly behind the radiator where the
intake air is not a true cold-air intake and the air
is not forced-in either. The better (and even cheaper!)
system is the Ram-it system whereby the air is forced-in
like a Ram-air hood (~$1000+!) and is a true COLD
air system. These are the key ingredients in what
makes up a better intake system for even less than
the SRI! It is mounted underneath the radiator and
through the front air dam. A duct directs the forced
air to the TB. Although you have to be careful not
to smack your front air dam, the product is without
comparison. Again the benefits:
1) FORCED-in air
2)
COLD AIR
Check
it out:<http://www.ramairss.com>
In addition, Jim Callaway, the owner, is unsurpassed
as far as a gentleman goes.

I have had my ramit on my 95 for about 6 months an
thought I would give you an update. The car spends
a lot of time on the highway and sees as much speed as safety will allow.
I have bored out the MAFS body to 3in. but have not needed to add a fuel
pressure regulator yet. Hypertec reprogram, transgo kit, 3:42
gears, pcv vent, throttle body heater hose removed
and a few more small things. The car origionally had a 3" pipe and
KN filter setup which was an improvement over the factory junk but the
RAMIT is a big improvement over that, especially over 50mph. The response
is very strong. I have been some heavy rains and have
had no problems with ingesting water. The system
was easy to install and is very durable if you use common
sense about parking and steep drive ways. I am very
impresed with the quality and performance of the product. It is the cheapest
horsepower you can find.

This is Phillp Burnworth from Ione Ca. I purchased
your ram air kit back in May I believe.. And yes Iam
having a very good time with it... Iam still working
on web page on my car and showing the installation
of the ram air system I hope to have it complete here
soon... but here is the web address any ways...http://www.geocities.com/baja/cliffs/3747
Plus
took it to the race track a while ago.. Hello, she's
third of second faster and about 5 mph faster too...
I still have to adjust my shift points down they were
hitting for just split of second I that I fixed that....
doh!.. plus my reaction time could have been slower
but oh well had a ton fun though.. Iam just glad she's
in the 14 second bracket now... wahoo...
Well
thanks for the fun catch you later....

I would
like to extend a hearty thanks to you and the Ram
Air system. I
ordered this a few weeks ago and it installed in less
than an hour. Saw
a very noticeable change in the car after the install.
Loving every
minute of it and so is the wife. Yesterday we took
the car out and I
decided to let her drive my beaSSt . She was quite
impressed with the
difference in responsiveness. She has driven the beaSSt
in the past and
enjoy the drive, but quoting from her response, Damn
is this what the
Ram Air did?" when I told her yes, she was actually
happy that I made a
mod to the beaSSt. Thank you again for the great product.
I have one question for you. I was reading in the

was said you are planning to make a chrome elbow for
the ram air

Thank you again

Just
wanted to drop a line to thank you for the ram-it
air intake system. Installation was fairly easy even
for someone that is all thumbs like me. Your instructions
were fairly clear for the installation of the kit.
A common comment from my friends is "you did
this air intake install all by yourself?" My
co-workers especially were very impressed with how
the system looks so good. There are two fellow Chevy
owner's that I work with that were impressed with
the air intake system. One drives a '92 Camaro Z-28
and the other a '84 Corvette. I don't konw how many
other mods I will be doing to my '96 SS, but I feel
after much research that I bought the best item I
could purchase to improve performance. I notice improved
throttle response and performance in the upper rpm
range has improved a good bit. Thanks again, you can
add me to your list of totally satisfied customers.

Hi
Guys,
Just installed my RAM air on my 95 SS, all I can say
is WOW !! I did not think it would work as well as
it does. It took about 1 1.2 hours to install.
Any new products?

Hey
Guys,
I have a '95 GGM Impala SS and just got the Ramair
kit installed last
night. You were right, what a difference. Since I
already have changed
out the mufflers to a flow thru exhaust, it really
lets me appreciate
the enhanced performance.
Now, I must say, I am not a mechanic by any means,
but even I was able
to install the entire kit in just under 2 hours. It
fit very clean, all
the parts were there, and the instructions were pretty
simple to follow.
By the way, the scoop through the air dam is a pretty
awesome sight. I
really didn't expect it to be as large as it is.
To all of you Impala SS owners ...... keep it in the
RED !!!!!!!!!!!
I recently
installed the Ram Air setup you sold me. I must say
that I am
impressed with the kit and the improved performance
of my Impala SS. The
acceleration at interstate speed is very noticable.
I have found that my SS
now only knows two speeds, "Wide Open or Stopped".
( Regarding stopped, I
managed to get stopped since the install, "0-78
in a block" I was
told..."Wow"! ). Arresting evidence of your
product as I have never been
stopped before (in this car)! The kit was easy to
install and looks great!
Keep up the great work! Rob Goodsell
Can't
say enough about your Ramit kit. This past weekend
was the ImalaPallooza Impalafest sponsored by HoSS
in Arlington Texas, and I took home the 1st place
trophy in the Pro bracket. In at least two of the
rounds, I won by overtaking the other car on the top
end. I know this increase is due to your product as
I had taken my car to the track prior to installing
it and felt the "choking" effect of the
stock intake at higher speeds.
Once
again, many thanks for a great product, feel free
to quote me in your advertising.

Just
wanted to tell you how great your product works. I
bolted it on in less than an hour and I'm definitely

the track. Very cost effective mod. My 94 is a daily
driver and I've had no problems whatsoever with clogging
or water etc.

Just thought I would put in my praise for Jim Callaway

Not only is the product itself a worthy addition for
a daily driven

best you will find
in any industry. It is rare enough to find people
that are in the

Subject: RamIt Mod Finished in Peoria!
SSers,
Today I finally finished my RamIt install. Several
people have e-mailed
me asking about the install and the performance increase
so I thought I
would just post this to everyone.
I'd
like to point out that I put the SLP Air Foil in also.
This seems
to be a toss up to most folks but after talking to
Jim at RAS, I decided
I did the right thing. They have even considered adding
an air foil to
the RamIt kit.
Anywhoooo.
I took the car out of hibernation for ONE DAY. It
was nice,
Roads were dry - some of the cinders, etc washed away
with the thaw....
good enough. To the car wash we went... and GO WE
DID!
I got
to the stop sign at the corner - gave it some gas
going around the
corner and the rear tires broke completely loose!
I accounted this to
the cinders on the roads. Then I got about half way
to town on a long
straight away and started trying to find the difference.
I was cruisin'
at about 45 - punched it and WOW! Where did THAT come
from. After
several stops I found that I can break the rear tires
loose just about
anywhere under 35 MPH by punching it. Cool - but now
I have a new
problem and more mods to buy. I gotta find a way to
put this power to
the ground or I'll be on a first name basis with the
tire guy.
Does
everyone get this kind of performance increase by
just changing the
intake? What will a new exaust do for me?
Overall
I'm amazed at the difference. I was completely stock
before and
these are the only two performance mods on the car.
Well worth the
money. Unfortunately I can't credit the SLP air foil
as I did not run
the RamIt without it. Hey, it's $40 but it can't hurt.

Subject: New K&N "cold-air" intake should've
been colder
I have
finished my investigation of the new K&N intake
system as featured
at www.impalaclub.com and here are my findings:
The
new K&N "cold-air" intake is OK, but
not as effective as a true
cold-air induction, or even better - a FORCED cold
air-induction system.
This is much more desirable and costs about the SAME
as the new K&N system.
The
K&N system's apparatus is similar to a TeamSS
pipe who's inlet pipe is
still UNDER the hood, taking air in from near the
driver's side headlight.
This is the same location as the stock air-box. There
are two things the
K&N has going for it:
1)
Insulated air-intake housing
2) Increased air-flow over stock
HOWEVER,
a cold-air induction system (like Evergreen or AS&M)
OR the even
better FORCED cold-air induction system (like Ram-it)
is greatly enhanced
by the very effective properties of a(n):
1)
"True" cold air-intake on both systems
2) Insulated air-intake housing with a FORCED cold-air
induction (on
Ram-it ONLY) as a result of the air being caught forwardly
from under the
radiator as the car is being driven. The Ram-it is
similar in price to all
the other systems and is MUCH cheaper than a similarly
equipped Ram-air
hood costing ~$1000!
I had
hoped the K&N system was a true cold-air intake.
However, it's still
a much better system than a simple intake pipe but
not as good as the
others of similar cost with MORE features/advantages.
For overall price,
effectiveness and features, the Ram-it will serve
the absolute best
performance air intake mod there is. The Ram-air hood
will do likewise,
but the cost is unjustified.
That's
the "scoop", pun intended FWIW,

I hooked
the gauge to the hole in the filter box which normally
holds
the OptiSpark vent tube.
In
1st gear, I had vacuum at WOT like I expected. I was
very surprised
to see the vacuum go to zero before the 2-3 shift.
Since the gauge was

I was getting.
There
definately is ram induction from the intake.

If you doubt the positive effect of ram air on your

out
the window at 60 mph or faster. It's one of those

- ------------
Exactly my point. No other air-intake system is as
efficient (except the
Ram-air hood at ~$1000). The air in both cases is
being forced into the
throttle body around the speed you're going +/- 20%.
The SMALL velocity
loss is due to the two bends inherent in the Ram-it
system. It looks like
an "S". The bottom of the "S"
is at the bottom under the radiator in the
center air deflector. the top of the "S"
goes into the throttle body.
HOWEVER, the flow is so fast that it overcomes these
obstacles well. This
leaves VERY little time for the air to get warm at
all and remains
relatively as cold as when it entered! This is not
as evident as when it
is NOT forced in like other systems. These include
those systems that take
air in from the outside or from under the hood. The
FORCED IN OUTSIDE air
of the Ram-it doesn't leave much room for the air
to get warm at all.
Again,
even with the bends in it, the velocity overcomes
them. All for the
same or perhaps less money than the other "true"
cold-air intakes that are
a NOT forced air-induction system like the Ram-it!

Mitch Posner

Assuming your current set-up also includes a K&N

better performance from a ram air type system.

higher flow rate filter than the "drop-in"

for the Impala SS (see http://www.ramairss.com) and

took them some time to ship the thing to me, the craftsmanship
is supreme
and the kit is absolutely complete. You need nothing
of your old intake,
it even comes with a boot for the throttle body -
no 1LE elbow necessary!
The boot is an AC Delco part... so the system is nice,
it feels
considerably better, especially at high speed, than
my ole 3.5" pipe and
K&N combo. Unfortunately, I was not careful, and
rammed my air dam into a
high slope at a gas station the first day I got it,
with incredible force
tearing the bottom of the scoop off (it doesn't change
your ground

not long - less than a day - after MY post, Jim at
RAS sent me a note.
He had seen my story on the digest and offered me
a sweet deal to replace my
damaged parts. Yet another example of good customer
relations! My image of
the surly auto parts dealer is fading away, and being
replaced by PEOPLE who
share our enthusiasm for our cars and enjoy helping
us get the most from them.
"People" is emphasized because that is who
you develop relationships with, not companies.
As
a marketing person, this is what gets me all mushy.
